Mint Meltaways.
I have now tasted a Mint Meltaway for the first time. My verdict?
Heaven in a single square inch.

Afternoon everyone. In an effort to keep this page from appearing to be blank (although the MT hack will be installed shortly) I have decided to post. As many of you already know, I have moved from DC and am now living in Chicago, where I am suffering through a less-than-pleasant commute while working for a software company as a consultant. (As always, all ideas and opinions on these pages are mine and mine alone unless otherwise attributed, and in no way reflect the thoughts or opinions of my employers or anyone else with whom I am affiliated.)
The move was great, in that it is now done, and I'm getting settled into my new city. A few things to check out immediately, if you're in the Chicago area:
The Chicago Diner: A vegetarian restaurant on Halsted with absolutely fabulous food.
The Gourmet Grape: A wine store, also on Halsted, celebrating its one-year anniversary this weekend.
Despite being long overdue, Thursday's Blogorama on Kalorama managed to draw a fascinating crowd to this unobtrusive lounge on 18th Street NW. It is not a politically-correct crowd by any means, and we do all sorts of things that THEY discourage... While dominated heavily by bloggers affiliated in one way or another with Cato, there were quite a few of us regular people. Making an appearance? All of the usual suspects (Andrew, Brooke, Gene, Julian, Lex, Missy, Radley, Will) plus a few I was meeting for the first time (Brendon, Courtney whose name is not Jordan, Julia, Jen, and Jim.)
It is always a good time.
Andy Rosenberg, running for the Democratic nomination to Congress from the 8th District of Virginia (which is to say, from my town) has revamped his campaign website with a very nice and tasteful flash introduction. He and his campaign managerare still blogging (RSS 1.0 feed) and the comments are active as well. If you are local or if you are interested in the politics of Virginia's 8th District (currently represented in Congress by Rep. Jim Moran), check out Andy's site.
On March 11, 2004, over 200 restaurants in the D.C. metro area will participate in Dine Out for Life, a fundraiser for Food & Friends (For people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses, the battle is far from over. We just make sure no one has to do it on an empty stomach.) Participating restaurants are donating anywhere from 25% to 100% of your bill to the organization. No joke--three restaurants (Carlyle Grande in Shirlington, 18th & U Duplex Diner, and Ristorante Tosca on F Street)--will each donate 100% of your bill to Food & Friends.
If you are in the DC-metro area, please make plans to go out for dinner on this night. Many restaurants are even participating during breakfast and lunch; get the details and make your reservations.
