Haven't posted in ages...

...but for whatever reason (web-based conference calls, perhaps) felt compelled to do so today. I've let this site slip, not because I am without interesting (to me) things to say, but because I am without time to properly pull together my thoughts.

For my old readers in DC, if you are still getting feeds from this site, I'm back in town for the week. Perhaps I'll be inspired to start writing again...the cab ride from National to Foggy Bottom felt very much like home and I can feel the energy of this city already.

Comment spam.

Ernie wrote about the hip lingo of comment spammers a few weeks ago, as part of his goal of reaching the lightning round of Comment Spam Bingo. (ha!) I thought he'd get a kick out of this particular bit of comment spam I deleted this morning:

Sorry that i am a bit of topic here. I am looking for technical writer who is compute savvy. I like how you put your words together. If you are interested could you email me your rates.

The link, of course, was to a site that was clearly not in need of a technical writer of any sort, unless those sorts of sites have a user guide. (And if they do? I do not want to know about it.)

Printable pages.

With some help from the instructions at CogDogBlog, I have created a secondary stylesheet that is used when someone attempts to print this page. It removes the left and right columns and removes display-specific formatting. Best of all, this took maybe ten minutes. I will likely continue to muck with it, but it fills a need. (Selecting "Print Preview" from the File menu on this page will show you what it looks like.)
