> Slow news day

I subscribe to over 120 news sources in my aggregator.

In two different scans today, my aggregator picked up one item.  One Item.

That is a slow news day.

> More on Harry Potter.

Two worthwhile Harry Potter in the blogosphere the last few days (beware, both contain spoilers):

  1. New at Reason: Julian Sanchez surveys the new crop of villains in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix—good-hearted types who just want to keep things on an even keel.  [Hit & Run]
  2. CalPundit finished the book this week and declares Snape his favorite character (for the record, I'm pretty close to agreeing with him).  Be sure to read the comments thread
> Select Smart.

Okay, I've seen this Select Smart Presidential quiz on a few sites, so I figured I'd give it a shot as well.  That I would be most aligned with a Libertarian candidate comes as no surprise, but I am truly shocked by the placement of the second candidate on my list.  I must presume that it reflects my pre-libertarian Democratic (rather than Republican) origins.  Additionally, I'm mildly disturbed to realize that President Bush came in above Sen. Kerry or Sen. Lieberman--but then again, the poll had no way of knowing that I'd vote for practically anyone other than Bush in order to have Attorney General Ashcroft replaced.

1.  Libertarian Candidate   (100%)
2.  Sharpton, Reverend Al - Democrat   (74%)
3.  Dean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat   (58%)
4.  Kucinich, Cong. Dennis, OH - Democrat   (49%)
5.  Bush, George W. - US President   (49%)
6.  Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat   (44%)
7.  Lieberman Senator Joe CT - Democrat   (41%)
8.  Phillips, Howard - Constitution   (38%)
9.  Edwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat   (33%)
10.  Gephardt, Cong. Dick, MO - Democrat   (26%)
11.  Moseley-Braun, Former Senator Carol IL - Democrat   (25%)
12.  Graham, Senator Bob, FL - Democrat   (21%)
13.  LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat   (-10%)
