hehehe Via CoolStop, I was led to Rubbish!, an article published on December 24, 2002, on Willamette Week Online. The nutshell? Two reporters "liberated" (their word) the trash of three well-known Portland residents--the Mayor, the Police Chief, and the District Attorney. All three had supported, in one way or another, the legality of a warrantless search of a police officer's trash bin, claiming that any right to privacy is lost when the trash bin is placed on the sidewalk, and the reporters decided to turn the tables on the three. It's a fun read.
And it reminds me that I was already planning to get a shredder; maybe I'll take care of that today. Office Depot, here I come...
